Senior Staff / Staff Software Engineer, Trust & Safety

<h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">About the Role</span></h2> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Chime is looking for Senior Staff and Staff Engineers to lead our high impact member Trust and Safety group. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the vision for one of Chime’s foundational pillars. </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">The Trust and Safety organization is tasked with fueling sustainable growth, protecting our members, and reducing fraud losses and operational costs. You will provide technical and architectural guidance to multiple teams crafting industry defining solutions. These teams are responsible for providing scalable, extensible frameworks to create smooth and streamlined risk experiences across every checkpoint of a member’s experience at Chime. You will work function-wide across Chime’s engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver Trust and Safety’s vision.</span></p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">In this role, you can expect to</span></h2> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Work with engineering and product leadership to build cross-functional vision</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Design and evolve new and existing capabilities</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure and APIs </span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Identify and help resolve bottlenecks in our software development process and infrastructure</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Write and guide engineers to produce elegant, scalable code, with an owner's mindset</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Serve as a mentor, leading others in designing elegant code and architecture that scales to meet Chime's growing needs</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">As needed, play the role of Team Lead during the course of a project</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Ensure that technical decisions support our quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security goals</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Contribute to the organization-level discovery, vetting and decision-making on critical architecture and technology, bringing your domain expertise into larger conversations</span></li> </ul> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">To thrive in this role, you have </span></h2> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">12+ years of experience in software engineering</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Previously built and evolved high-scale back-end solutions</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Passion and previous experience in building end to end member facing features and systems</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Strong competency in distributed systems, scalable and extensible platforms high availability design</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Experience with leading and empowering multiple teams</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Language and technology stack-agnostic mindset</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Ability to work in agile setting</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">#LI-MB1 #LI-Hybrid</span></p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p>Below is the base salary offered for this role and level of experience.
